K-STATE'S ANNUAL DOG-N-JOG APRIL 28

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital and College of Veterinary Medicine will host the 12th annual Dog-N-Jog, Saturday, April 28.

The event features three races for dogs and their owners; however, a dog is not required for entry. The entry fee is $20.

A portion of the proceeds will go to KSDS Inc., formerly known as the Kansas Specialty Dog Service, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the training and placement of canine assistants given to individuals with physical disabilities.

Registration starts at 8 a.m. at the west entrance of the hospital, which is also the starting point for the races. The 5K and 10K races will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the 1.5K Family Fun Run at 10 a.m.

At a ceremony at 11:30 a.m., awards will be presented to the winners of the races, as well awards for the best dressed dog, youngest and oldest participating dog, and biggest and smallest dog, among others.

Fruit and donuts, information booths from event sponsors and a silent auction will be available from 10 a.m. to noon.
