K-STATE'S DIVISION OF BIOLOGY HONORS 10 STUDENTS

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's Division of Biology is recognizing 10 students for their outstanding academic performances and contributions to the division.

At an April 21 ceremony, eight students received Most Promising Student awards, given to undergraduates in the division based on their academic performance, involvement in activities, letters of recommendation and an interview by a faculty panel. The awards are funded solely by faculty contributions.

The Division of Biology also gave two H. H. Haymaker Awards for Excellence. The award recognizes outstanding seniors majoring in biology, fisheries and wildlife biology or microbiology who have both a high level of accomplishment as an undergraduate and the promise to continue such quality performance in a biological sciences related career. The award is named for Herbert Henley Haymaker, a faculty member at K State from 1917 to 1963.

Students earning honors from K-State's Division of Biology include:

Jenna Kennedy, senior in microbiology, Hoxie, Most Promising Student Award; Erinn Bock, senior in fisheries and wildlife biology, Most Promising Student Award, and Morgan Bonds, senior in biology, Most Promising Student Award, both of Hutchinson; Leah Kuhlmann, junior in biology, Kensington, Most Promising Student Award; Tamara Fischer, junior in microbiology, Olathe, Most Promising Student Award; Jennifer Buseman, senior in microbiology, Overland Park, Most Promising Student Award; Bridget McGuire, senior in microbiology, Topeka, H.H.
