Scott Staggenborg
Professor of agronomy
Professor of agronomy Scott Staggenborg came to Kansas State University in 1995 as
the Northeast Area Extension Crops Specialist. In this position he oversaw a research
and extension program that encompassed 22 counties in northeast Kansas. In 2004, he
accepted a position in the agronomy department with responsibilities for cropping
systems research and teaching.
Staggenborg's current research program is focused on a systems approach to producing sustainable biofuel feedstocks and while protecting the ecosystem services provide by these systems. His program has also foscused on managing cropping systems to increase soil carbon levels and the adoption of technology at the farm level. He teaches courses in cropping systems and site specific management. He also serves as director of K-State's Weather Data Library.
Staggenborg is a member of the American Society of Agronomy and Epsilon Sigma Phi.
Staggenborg received his bachelor's degree in agronomy and his master's degree in agronomy and crop production from K-State. He went on to receive his doctorate in agronomy and plant physiology from Texas Tech University.
