Jeffrey
Katz, a K-State professor of management, is an expert in the area
of strategic management and corporate governance with knowledge
and experience on both domestic and international levels.
In addition to teaching, Katz is assistant dean for graduate programs at K-State and also holds the Edgerley Family Chair in business administration. Katz served as president of the Midwest Academy of Management in 2004 and was named a Fulbright Senior Scholar by the U.S.-German Fulbright Commission in 1998. He has continued to teach alternating summer semesters at the University of Giessen since 1999.
Katz's research includes global competitors, strategic decision making and corporate governance. He is researching CEO pay and performance, the impact of national culture on business strategies, ownership structure as a strategic factor in company success, strategic supply chain management, factors affecting cross-national competition and case studies in business strategies. Katz has authored or co-authored more than 50 journal articles, case studies, book chapters and reviews. In addition, he has served on the editorial board of more than five journals in the field of management.
Before coming to K-State, Katz obtained more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry as a commercial lender in Arizona and as a senior-level bank regulator in Washington, D.C.
Katz graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in 1977 and master's degree in 1979 from Arizona State University. He earned a doctorate in strategic management with a secondary interest in international management from the University of Florida in 1995.
