LORI A. GOETSCH
Dean of K-State Libraries

 

Lori A. GoetschLori A. Goetsch  is dean of Kansas State University Libraries. She was appointed to the post in May 2004.

Goetsch came to K-State after serving as director of the Public Services Division at the University of Maryland's library, where she provided leadership for service activities in the main research library and six branch libraries. She also supervised 12 team leaders in a division of approximately 40 librarians and 100 support staff.

She also has worked at the University of Tennessee from 1993-97 as head of reference services and as an associate professor; at Michigan State University from 1987-1993 as head and librarian for information-reference; and at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 1982-85 as assistant reference librarian.

Goetsch is a member of the American Library Association. She was elected to a four-year appointment on the board of directors of the Association of College and Research Libraries, the academic division of the American Library Association. She was selected to attend the Association of College and Research Libraries/Harvard Leadership Institute in 2000. She was a member of the Senior Fellows Program at Long Island University in 1995; received the University of Tennessee-Knoxville Career Enhancement Award; and was chosen for the Michigan Library Association Leadership Academy. She received the Michigan State University Libraries Distinguished Librarian Award, and a National/International Diversity in the Curriculum Grant.

Goetsch has been involved with numerous research projects and has published on topics ranging from feminist pedagogy to library security.

She earned a master of library science from Rosary College, now Dominican University, and master's and bachelor's degrees, both in English, from Illinois State University.
