Paying taxes raises a lot of issues -- not just financial and logistical issues, but
moral ones as well. Dann Fisher, associate professor of accounting at Kansas State
University, is an expert on taxes and the wide range of questions associated with
the annual process.
Computerized tax filing, taking out loans against your tax refund from the bank, tax evasion and how moral reasoning affects a person's likeliness to file taxes are just some of the areas Fisher has researched.
Fisher is also very knowledgeable about tax procedures. He can offer advice on how to avoid penalties, how current tax policies affect different tax brackets, deferring income to the next year, what to do if you have underpaid, how Social Security factors in, and how to get help filing your taxes.
Fisher is nationally known for his research on ethics and accounting. He has had articles published in a number of journals, including Research on Accounting Ethics, Behavioral Research in Accounting and the Journal of Business Ethics. In 1998, he received the College of Business Administration Outstanding Research Award. Fisher received his master's and bachelor's in accounting from K-State.
