Sheryl Benton joined Kansas State University in 1990. She has been a licensed psychologist since 1993 and also holds specialty certification in counseling psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology.
At K-State, Benton is in charge of training and supervising pre-doctoral psychology interns and post-doctoral psychology fellows. In addition, she teaches doctoral courses and guest lectures in a variety of courses. Benton also provides group therapy and individual psychotherapy to students. She is the author of numerous papers and presentations on trends in college student mental health.
Benton is a member of the Kansas Psychological Association, the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies, the American Board of Professional Psychology and the American Psychological Association, Division 17, Counseling Psychology.
Benton earned her doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Kansas in 1991. She received her master's in community and agency counseling from K-State in 1985 and her bachelor's in secondary education, history and psychology from the University of Nebraska in 1978.
