Beach exhibition: 'Robert J. Lang: Insect Origami'

This exhibition features larger-than-life origami insects by Robert J. Lang. Organized in collaboration with the K-State Insect Zoo. On display at the Beach Museum of Art through Dec. 24.

Beach exhibition: 'Renewal: K-State Art Department Faculty Biennial'
This exhibition features work by K-State art department faculty over the past two years. On display through Dec. 24 at the Beach Museum.

Hale exhibition: 'Beyond Oz: the Other Works of L. Frank Baum'
Pieces from K-State's L. Frank Baum collection will be on display in the fifth floor gallery of Hale Library. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The exhibit will be on display through Dec. 31.

Chang exhibition: 'Not Simply Every Sunset Over Eden', by Robert Condia
8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays through Jan. 2, in Seaton Hall's Chang Gallery.

Beach exhibition: 'Recreating Oz in Comics'
This exhibition, a collaboration with K-State's English department, is an exploration of the ways in which artists have adapted the Oz story to the comic book form. The exhibition features the work of artist, writer, and Oz historian Eric Shanower and Marvel Comics artist Skottie Young. On display through Jan. 31

Kemper exhibition: University Life Cafe Art Exhibit
From Dec. 3-17 student-generated artwork selected from the University Life Cafe Web site contest will be on display in the K-State Student Union's Kemper Gallery.

Music: University Ensemble's Holiday Festival of Music

7:30 p.m., First United Methodist Church, Manhattan. The K-State Choir and Collegiate Chorale, Rhapsody Ringers, K-State Brass Ensemble and K-State Trumpet Ensemble will perform.

Beach Museum: Oz Gallery Talk by Anne Phillips and Roger Adams
4:30 p.m., Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art. Phillips and Adams will give a tour of the exhibit "Recreating Oz in Comics" while providing insight about the exhibition.

 

DEC. 3-5
Winter Dance '09
7:30 p.m. Dec. 3-5; matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 5, Nichols Theater
K-State's dance faculty and students present an exciting evening of dance in the intimate Nichols Theater. Jazz, tap, modern dance and ballet will be showcased in original dance pieces choreographed by faculty, advanced students and a professional guest artist. For tickets call 532-6428.

McCain Performance Series: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
7:30 p.m., McCain Auditorium. The Grammy-nominated group will perform a holiday swing music show featuring rollicking big band arrangements of favorites such as "Jingle Bells," "Blue Christmas" and "We Three Kings." Call 532-6428 for tickets.

Beach Museum: Family Holiday Workshop
2-4 p.m., Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art. Celebrate the winter holidays with food, crafts and surprises. Cost is $5 per child, reservations are not needed and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Music: Theory Class Composition Recital

Salina: Van Operator Training
1:30 to 3:30 p.m., 101 Facilities Room, K-State at Salina. Mandatory National Safety Council training will be conducted for all operators and/or potential operators of K-State motor pool vans.

Holiday Book Sale
9 a.m.-4 p.m., second floor, Hale Library. Hundreds of gently used books on all subjects available, proceeds support the ongoing efforts of The Friends of the K-State Libraries.
