Agronomy

Michel Ransom received the 2007 Phi Kappa Phi Scholar Award from the Kansas State University chapter.

Ransom was also awarded the 2006-7 David Mugler Teaching Award, sponsored by the K-State College of Agriculture Alumni Association.

Educational communications center

Sue Maes presented "Best Practices of Blended Programs: Students Taking Online and Face-to-Face Courses," University of Continuing Education Alliance annual conference, April 13, Vancouver, British Columbia.

Geography

Doug Goodin was one of seven featured speakers at the 10th annual Conference on New and Reemerging Infectious Diseases, April 19-20, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Illinois. He presented "Landscape Hierarchy and Spatial Scale: A Framework for the Ecology of Zoonotic Disease."

Shawn Finan was recently inducted into K-State's chapter of Pinnacle Honor Society for nontraditional students. Finan, a general maintenance and repair technician senior, is also a senior in sociology.

Human nutrition

Valentina M. Remig has been selected to serve a three-year term on the Legislative and Public Policy Committee of the American Dietetic Association, Chicago, Ill.
