Biochemistry

Maureen Gorman, Michael Kanost and colleagues published "Manduca Sexta Hemolymph Proteinase 21 Activates Prophenoloxidase-activating Proteinase 3 in an Insect Innate Immune Response Proteinase Cascade," The Journal of Biological Chemistry, Vol. 282, Issue 16.

Deborah Che and Lisa Harrington have been selected to attend Sixth Quadrennial Rural Geography Conference, July, Spokane, Wash.

Charles Martin has received a three-month research fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung, Bonn, Germany, for work at the University of Giessen in Germany. Work will focus on recent changes in trace element storage in flood-plain soils of the Lahn River basin in central Germany.

Political science

Krishna K. Tummala presented "Politics of Preference: Indian Style," American Society for Public Administration annual conference, March 26, Washington, D.C. He also organized and chaired panel, "Politics of Preference: A Cross-national Experience."

Provost's office

Helene Marcoux was part of an international panel on e-cheating March 14-16, Chamonix, France, as part of the annual international conference for International Association of Science and Technology for Development.

Psychology

Mary Cain co-authored the paper "Individual Differences in Response to Nicotine Conditioning and Reinstatement," which a student presented, 55th annual Nebraska Symposium on Motivation: The Motivational Impact of Nicotine and Its Role in Tobacco Use.
