Stephen Corkill earned the designation of Certified SolidWorks Professional, SolidWorks World Conference, Feb. 4-7, New Orleans, La.

Agronomy

Mary Beth Kirkham and colleagues published "Root Uptake and Transpiration: From Measurements and Models to Sustainable Irrigation," Agricultural Water Management, Vol. 86.

Dana Minihan was elected president of the Kansas Association of Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture at its annual meeting Jan. 21. She will serve a two-year term and continue as past-president for two more years.

Architectural engineering

Ray Yunk is in charge of planning the Architectural Engineering Institute National Student Conference, March 30-31, Kansas City, Mo.

Art

Anna Calluori Holcombe chaired the panel "International Residences for Artists: Nuts and Bolts," and presented "The 'How To' for International Residencies," College Art Association annual conference, Feb. 14-17, New York, N.Y.

Civil engineering

Alok Bhandari edited the book "Remediation Technologies for Soils and Groundwater," The American Society of Civil Engineers.

Communications

Marcus Ashlock and colleagues were awarded Best Professional Paper and Presentation, Agricultural Communications Section, for "The Uncertainty of Agroterrorism: Beef Producers' Risk Perception, Information Sources and Source Trust in the Pre-Crisis Stage," 104th annual conference of the Southern Association of Agricultural Scientists, Feb. 3, Mobile, Ala.

Geography

Richard Marston presented "Geographers Collaborating to Solve Complex Environmental Problems," Pennsylvania State University geography department, Feb. 16.

History

The following K-State faculty members presented at the American Society for Environmental History annual meeting Feb. 28-March 3, Baton Rouge, La.:

Bonnie Lynn-Sherow, "What Does a Disaster Look Like?" a roundtable discussion on the Dust Bowl.

James E. Sherow chaired the selection committee and presented the award for the Marsh Prize for the best book published in Environmental History in 2006.

K-State at Salina

Barney King presented "Accreditation Standards Manual vs. Accreditation Criteria," "Training and Regulations" and co-chaired "Outcomes Based Curriculum," Aviation Accreditation Board international conference, Feb. 18-23, Melborne, Fla.
