2006 Business Administration

 

* Yar M. Ebadi, dean of K-State's College of Business Administration, is a mentor for Prince Sultan University as it strives to earn accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The Saudi Arabian institution has expressed interest in developing academic partnerships with K-State that could open doors for Saudi Arabian students and faculty to come to K-State and possibly provide opportunities for both K-State students and faculty to study and teach internationally. * K-State business students taking part in a semester-long competition have gained experience in the business world and brought some recognition to K-State's College of Business Administration along the way. Greg Smith, instructor of management, accepted an offer from Cerner Corporation for students in his capstone course in management information systems to participate in the consulting and software development competition. Four groups from K-State competed against 12 other groups from the universities of Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Purdue in two competitions. One of the K-State groups took first place in the consulting competition. The winning team got to deliver a presentation to Cerner executives. Another group from K-State took third in a software development competition. Students were required to develop a mobile application that allows nurses, physicians and pharmacists to monitor care at the patent's bedside using a personal digital assistant. December 2006

* Two K-State accounting students received awards at the Grant Thornton Lecture in April. Anthony Frey, graduate student in accounting, received a Federation of Schools of Accountancy's Outstanding Graduate Student Award. Hazel Nash, senior in accounting, received a Financial Executives Institute's Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award. Both students were nominated for the awards by K-State accounting faculty.
