The College of Business Administration has awarded Jeffrey Katz,
professor of management, the Edgerley Family Chair in Business
Administration, the college's second faculty of distinction chair.
The Edgerley Family Chair is the second chair endowed by Paul
B. and Sandra Edgerley to the college. October 2004

Diane Swanson received the Outstanding Business Ethics Educator
Award at the recent 2004 Association to Advance Collegiate Schools
of Business International Teaching Business Ethics Conference
in Boulder, Colo. The conference brings business ethics experts
together to help develop and implement effective ethics education
programs. Swanson is associate professor of management and as
the von Waaden business administration professor at K-State. She
is also chair and founder of the Business Ethics Education Initiative,
an effort championing the need for ethics in business school curricula.

The K-State College of Business Administration will be leading
a collaborative effort to boost international business education
in Kansas, as well as opportunities to sell Kansas-made products
internationally, all with the help of a $163,000 Business and
International Education Grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
Co-directors of the grant are Jeff Katz, professor of management
and director of K-State's Center for Leadership, and Roger McHaney,
associate professor of management. The two-year effort is about
providing international business education to enhance student
awareness, faculty-business interaction and encourage international
trade opportunities. May 2004

Chwen Sheu, K-State professor of management, has been appointed
to the Paul B. Edgerley Chair in Business Administration, the
college's first Faculty of Distinction Chair. Edgerley, a certified
public accountant and managing director of Bain Capital in Boston,
Mass., is a 1978 graduate of the College of Business Administration.
Sheu is nationally and internationally recognized in the field
of operations management with a focus on supply chain management.

Aaron Siders, senior in marketing at Kansas State University,
Wichita, received the North-American Interfraternity Conference
2004 Undergraduate Award of Distinction, also known as the "Ironman
Trophy." Siders was presented the award at the conference's
award dinner April 25 in Washington, D.C. He was one of only seven
individuals chosen nationally for the distinction. Selection for
the award was based on the candidates' overall leadership and
excellence in the advancement of fraternity ideals, according
to the conference. Individuals were nominated by fraternities,
campus advisers and other undergraduates. According to its mission,
the conference is a national body focused on "advocating
the needs of its member fraternities through enrichment of the
fraternity experience, advancement and growth of the fraternity
community and enhancement of the educational mission of the host
institutions." The conference has approximately 350,000 undergraduate
members located on 800 campuses throughout the United State and
Canada. April 2004
