Sometimes in life, things come full circle. That’s the story of country/bluegrass icon and 14-time Grammy Award Winner Ricky Skaggs. By age 21, he was already considered a “recognized master” of bluegrass, but his career took him in other directions, catapulting him to immense fame and fortune in country music’s mainstream.
As his popularity soared, the Country Music Association honored him with eight awards including “Entertainer of the Year.” Country Music Television named him to their list: “40 Greatest Men of County Music.”
Now the road has brought him back to where it all began, bluegrass music, where his wildly successful recordings and dynamic live performances bring new vitality to country music’s most demanding but down-to-earth art form.
He will perform with Kentucky Thunder, his band of lightning-fingered virtuosos, which has received the International Bluegrass Music Association Instrumental Group of the Year Award eight of the last ten years. |
