Jon Nakamatsu draws unanimous praise as a true aristocrat of the keyboard, whose playing combines elegance, clarity, and electrifying power.
Nakamatsu rose to global stardom in 1997 when he was named Gold Medalist of the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, the only American to have done so since 1981.
Incredibly, at the time he won what is widely considered the most prestigious classical music competition in the world, Nakamatsu was a high school German language teacher without any formal conservatory training!
“This young American pianist has stunning technical control and can do anything at the piano he wants.” - The New York Times
