Young, hip and brimming with infectious energy, Yamato brings the ancient art of taiko drumming up to date in an invigorating display of talent and athleticism. Taiko drumming is a physical and musical spectacle. The drums can measure up to six feet across, requiring powerful stamina to play. Yamato’s performers display their breathtaking virtuosity on 20 drums, varying from huge barrel-like odaikos (enormous taiko drums) to hand-held instruments.
With exquisite bronze cymbals, vocals and bamboo flutes, Yamato creates a cultural and spiritual tone that connects the performers with the audience.
