"MOZART'S REQUIEM" MUNICH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 30
Featuring Philippe Entremont and Gloria dei Cantores.

The Munich Symphony Orchestra makes its triumphant return to the McCain stage after its appearance in the 2005-2006 seasons. Under the direction of Philippe Entremont, the orchestra will perform Mozart’s “Requiem Mass in D minor” (K. 626) with the choir Gloria dei Cantores.  Mozart’s “Requiem” is one of the most powerful and evocative works ever composed. Left unfinished at the time of Mozart’s death, the work is surrounded with much intrigue and controversy, most recently depicted in the movie “Amadeus.”

“Entremont and his orchestra conjured up a joyous whirlwind of sound that ultimately launched the music blazing into the ether.” — The Washington Post
