Applications and Requirements

Quote 1

 For site leaders:

  • Site Leader applicants must submit an application, including a resume and one-page statement on how service has impacted you, to
  • Applicants will be notified by email if they have been selected for interviews
  • Site Leaders will be expected to attend an orientation, weekly meetings, and post-break team reflection with the Alternative Breaks staff
  • Site Leaders are expected to facilitate 3-4 team meetings before departing for the break

  • Solo Site Leaders will receive a full stipend for the trip
  • Co-Site Leaders will receive a half stipend for the trip - leaving a remaining balance of $125

 Spring 2015 Site Leader Application is now available and is due on November 21st, 2014.

For participants:

  • Candidates must submit an application, including a resume, to
  • Candidates will be notified via e-mail if they have been selected for interviews
  • Participants are expected to be engaged team members in the Alternative Breaks process, attending a service-learning intensive, team meetings and post-break team reflection
  • Each participant will be assessed $250 for housing, transportation, food stipend, insurance, and administrative fees


For Weekend Breakers:

  • Weekend Break team positions are offered on a first come, first serve basis
  • Team members should wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty and closed-toed shoes
  • Each participant will be assessed $10 for transportation and administrative fees
  • Participants will meet in the north stalls of The School of Leadership Studies on the morning of service. This is right next to the amphitheater on the north side of the building
  • Students are advised to bring a water bottle and sack lunch/snacks, depending on the length of service
