LEAD 450: Senior Seminar
This capstone course expects students to integrate leadership knowledge in preparation
for their roles as members of the contemporary workforce and as citizens.
Students learn to deal with ethical dilemmas both big and small. They will learn to
be an ethical leader by the demonstration of normatively appropriate conduct through
communication and decision making. Students discuss possible ethical situations and
how best to deal with them.
Caring: Emphasize caring as a key component of effective leadership which requires boldness, fortitude, service,
positive change orientation, inspiration and celebration.
LEAD 212: Introduction to Leadership Concepts
Students explore their own leadership development and understand personality types
as they learn leadership concepts centered around the schools mission statement.
By creating our leadership philosophy students decide how much of a caring leader
they are.
Inclusive: Cultivate an inclusive world by encouraging open dialogue and sharing of stories and experiences in recognition
of all that unites us.
LEAD 350: Culture and Context in Leadership
This course challenges students to explore their cultural identity to a value base
perspective and to look at how different culture and contexts influence leadership
today.
What makes us uncomfortable and why? This class benefits from a lot of open class
discussion which may place some students out of their comfort zone. Students will
have to go to a "out of their comfort zone" event and will be asked to reflect on
their experience. Discussions range from differences in race, cultures, religion,
and sexuality.
Diverse and Changing World: Appreciate diversity by educating about a variety of cultures, studying leadership issues of special populations,
and facilitating inter-cultural communication. Recognize change as a vital part of the leadership process, and prepare future leaders to deal with
change in a constructive way
