Standard Focus - Leadership Studies Minor

Developed as the first model for the leadership studies minor, the standard focus allows students to select electives that can relate with their academic major. Students will complete the four core classes (see Course Requirements) and have the opportunity to select one course from the following three elective categories.

Elective Categories

Ethics:

Introductory ethical concepts, social and political philosophy, ethical theories, and ethics as applied to specific professions.

Theories of Leadership and Organizational Behavior:

Management and organizational theories and their application in organizational and industrial settings.

Foundations and Applications of Leadership:

The application of leadership skills and theories to specific groups, organizations, fields of work, or academic disciplines; knowledge of various cultures; leadership communication.

You must take three hours from each of the elective categories. A full list of the electives offered can be found on the back of this page.

Students can work with their major academic advisor to see if any of the elective courses will fulfill the requirements for their academic major, as well as the leadership studies minor.
