Summer 1993 Host Site Descriptions
El Calabozo and Patzcuaro, Michoacan Mexico
Near Patxcuaro, Goering and Lammers analyzed the microenterprises to provide a basis for future community service teams. In Doctor Miguel Silva, they worked with women who owned a fruit tree nursery and tortilla shop, and in Santa Clara de Cobre with copper artists and peasant farmers. Kroeken and Ogden taught a pre-school in El Calabozo and performed a survey of the women of the community to determine in depth the status of their health, nutrition, and general lifestyle.
Anuncion, Paraguay
KSU Students were matched with eight Paraguayan students for a ten-week project to survey and develop housing opportunities for university students in Asuncion.

Christa is a sophomore majoring in social work. She chose to minor in nonprofit leadership studies for all the opportunities that the minor has to offer. Christa believes that leadership studies can help her find out “who I am” and help her “build character and grow as a women and student”. She also chose the leadership minor because she has a passion when it comes to helping others!
