Piedades Norte de San Ramon, Costa Rica
The students were teamed with students from the University of Costa Rica and together addressed public health, housing, and educational needs within a small town. Specifically, the projects completed were a design for the Housing Project Poro, the creation of a mural, the teaching of English and work on a playground.

This six week project explored the health, living, and productive role of the elderly in the DR. Following the assessment, strategies were identified to provide appropriate opportunities for older persons to continue contributing to the community and economic development of those regions. This was the initial phase of a long term project to formalize a comprehensive model involving senior citizens in Latin America and the Caribbean undertaken by the Fudacion para el Desarrollo Communitario, the International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women, and the American Association for International Aging, among other organizations.
