Laboratory Animal Care
Service Preface Studies of animals have played a vital role in the advancement of biomedical science, contributing greatly to the improvement of human and animal health. The use of animals in research and teaching is absolutely essential for continued progress. A special privilege and responsibility for the scientific community is conferred by the use of animals for such purposes. Kansas State University is committed to providing a high-quality program of animal care and use in compliance with state and federal laws and the standards and policies of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The following web pages are intended to describe the services, practices and policies of the Laboratory Animal Care Service (LACS), administered through the Division of Biology, as well as some of the responsibilities and policies of the Kansas State University Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
