Second Annual Spotlight on Intellectual Property
Keynote speaker for the luncheon is Bill R. Sanford. He is an experienced entrepreneur, executive, consultant, investor and board member with extensive new venture, turnaround, senior management, and market development experience. His business career has focused on the development and commercialization of healthcare and scientific products, health services, advanced information systems, and other innovative technology applications. He will speak on how he led Steris from a start-up to a global leader in infection and contamination prevention systems, products, services, and technologies. Sanford received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from K-State in 1965.
Dr. Ken Klabunde, university distinguished professor of chemistry, will receive the K-State Intellectual Property Entrepreneurial Award. He is the founder of NanoScale Materials, Inc., a company that was launched as a result of his research in nanoscale particles, and serves as chair of its Science Advisory Board. Klabunde is internationally recognized for his work in catalysis, nanoparticles and destructive adsorbents. He has been awarded over 20 U.S. and international patents in the reactive nanoparticle field and has published over 400 scientific papers in nanotechnology and related fields.
