Mission Statement

    Opera is considered by many to be the "ultimate artistic achievement of mankind". Incorporating music, drama, painting, set design, costuming and many more forms of art, opera is all incompassing. It is thegoal of the Kansas State University Opera Guild (KSUOG) to introduce people to, and educate others about the great art of opera in all it facets. At Kansas State University, and in the mid-west, opera is an art form that tends to get overlooked for a number of different reasons. One, people have not been properly exposed to opera. Two, there are very few opera houses, facilities, and sources of funding in the region to support opera to any large extent. Three, there are a lot of common misconceptions about opera. We would like to change this, and use our abilities to educate, and expose people to this great art form. Opera is popular world wide, and we hope that it would not be overlooked in this part of the country. Students, faculty, and members of the community at Kansas State need to have the opportunity to learn about all the aspects of opera. We hope that our effort will succeed in our endeavors.
