Enrollment

Through an alliance agreement, students enroll for courses in the Great Plains IDEA Inter-Institutional programs through their home institution. This process aids in certifying hours for financial aid, and eliminates the need to request transcripts from each of the teaching institutions. Students pay K-State for their courses and the money is transferred to the teaching institution, if different from K-State.

By agreement among the Great Plains IDEA institutions, a common price is charged for all courses. This eliminates the question of in-state and out-of-state tuition depending on where the student is located and/or at which university the student is enrolled.

The common price for the 2009-2010 academic year (fall, spring and summer) is $430 per credit hour.

This includes all instruction and examinations. Books and other course materials are not included in the common price and will be purchased through campus bookstores or an online retailer. Participation in alliance programs requires that students be admitted to one of the partner universities. Each university has an application fee. No other course fees are assessed.

Courses are taught by instructors at each of the participating universities. Specific enrollment information is sent to each student after acceptance into their respective program, then prior to the enrollment period for each semester. The enrollment deadline is typically three weeks prior to the start of each semester. For a list of program requirements and semester offerings, please see the "Programs, Degrees and Courses," section of www.gpidea.org.

Your K-State Campus Coordinator can answer most questions regarding enrollment. Please contact her at gpideacc@ksu.edu.
