Great Plains IDEA Online Community

K-State has created an online community for students enrolled at a distance through Great Plains IDEA programs. Here, you will find enrollment information, textbook ordering information, links to useful information for graduate students, etc. The community is set up as a course in your K-State Online course organizer (after we have added you, you will find GPIDEA in your course organizer when you log-in). Information can be found under the “Modules” area. Students are also free to communicate with each other using the Message Board, or meet for live chats using the chat feature in the K-State Online system.

When you first log in to K-State Online (KSOL), you will be in the area called the Course Organizer. This is where you will access all courses taught here at K-State. It will also list a 'course' called GPIDEA, which is your online community. You will find current enrollment information under Modules. If you hover your mouse over Content, a link to Modules will appear on the left. There is a lot of information here that you will need and find useful during your time in Graduate School, including the following:

Advising & Enrollment Center - This is where you will find out what courses will be taught for the next semester. Click on a course and the information sheet which opens will give you the teaching institution, instructor, course dates, an enrollment link and textbook information.

Program specific information - A folder for each Great Plains IDEA program area contains links to degree and certificate requirements, course descriptions, special requirements for electives (if any), Program of Study information and a form to keep track of your Course Access information on the various campuses.

Program of Study Information - Links to the Graduate School website with instructions to complete your Program of Study form.

Graduation Information - Links to dates and instructions related to completing your final requirements for graduation.

Student Acknowledgement Form

Students participating in Great Plains IDEA programs are required to sign a student acknowledgment form. This form allows the exchange of information between the partnering institutions. Software and data are stored and maintained on a secure central database server. A limited number of university staff or faculty will be granted access to the database on a need-to-know basis to exchange roster and grade information between teaching and home institutions.

All students in the Great Plains IDEA programs need to have a Student Acknowledgement form on file prior to enrolling in courses their first semester. This degree program is taught through an alliance of universities. The form acknowledges the need to share student information between the home institution and the teaching institution. Please download this form from the Modules area in the Great Plains IDEA Online Community in K-State Online, or from the link above, sign it and mail to Katie Curtis at FSHS, 312 Justin Hall, Manhattan, KS 66506.
