Minutes - November 2, 1999

The meeting was called to order in Rathbone Hall 274, at 7:00 P.M. by President John Blessing, NØYRL.

The minutes from the previous meeting were not read.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

There was discussion on acquiring some common tools for the station. $58 had been previously allocated for this purpose, but not spent. A motion was made to allocate $100 for tools, which would include metric and English socket sets, screwdrivers, pliers, combination wrenches, a hammer and a tool box. Motion passed.

Norm Dillman, NØJCC offered to mention at the next MAARS meeting that the club could use tools that any local amateurs might wish to donate. Purchase of tools will be postponed, pending the outcome of this request.

NEW BUSINESS

Adviser Norm Dillman announced that he had discovered that one of the guy wires for the smaller tower to the east is completely missing. He and Station Manager Bill Kuhn, KO4MH have temporarily secured the tower with a rope. Fortunately there is very little wind loading, as this tower does little more than support one end of a dipole antenna. (Refer to the Norm's diagram below for further analysis of the problem).

Dr. Dillman will mention at the next MAARS meeting that we're looking for someone who likes to climb towers. This hero will need to go to the top of the tower, since the original guy wire has totally disappeared.

ARRL Phone Sweepstakes will be the weekend of Nov. 20 and 21.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 P.M.

David Yoder, KAØJPM
secretary-treasurer
