One would think there isn’t much anybody could do to make a flashlight more
fancy or necessary. In fact, one might suppose that the only improvements to be made
would be efficiency or size. However, it seems that the makers of the Commando
flashlight would have to disagree. Apparently, it makes perfect sense to combine a
stun gun and flashlight. In fact, it seems to make so much sense that several different
flashlight stun guns are on the market. While the TS 238 Flashlight Stun Gun boasts
an 80V shock output and a rechargeable 3.6V battery, its unique attribute is an anti-
robbery strap which disables the electric shock and sounds an alarm until the pin is
replaced. Boasting a 130 dB siren alarm along with the stun gun, the TG 273 Com-
mando Flashlight II stun gun also has a bit more umph. This spiffy little flashlight will
deliver a shock output of 150 kV, which perhaps seems excessive. Considering the
difference in price and my grace and coordination, I would probably be safer with the
TS 238. Although if you’re going to own an unnecessarily dangerous flashlight, then
why wouldn’t you go all out?
TS 238 $59.95

Door Eyes Recording Camera
My front door does not have a peephole. This generates a bit of paranoia as my other roommates are not quite as
vertically inclined as myself. While I can see through the window in our door, the others cannot. When it is late at night and
a knock comes, we quickly revert to rock, paper, scissors to determine who will be the possible sacrifice. What if a vile
henchman lurks in the undergrowth? Although, we currently have no grass or bushes, thus eliminating the undergrowth, I
still feel we have a definite need for the Door Eyes Recording Camera.  This
camera appears to merely be a peephole to the outsider. Capable of not
only taking and storing up to 24 pictures, this camera automatically takes
a snapshot after a person has been at your door for 8 seconds. You can
also download these pictures and store them on your computer. The Door
Eyes Camera also can serve as a peephole, allowing a view of the outside
shown on a 1.5" LCD screen. Touting more imaging features than most
early digital cameras, it allows for different lighting through edge detection
and enhancement backlight compensation. This means that the next time
my roommate’s fiancé shows up at our front door, he will be properly lit.
Are you ready for your close-up, Mr. Myers?
