Kansas State Engineer
The Engineers Ball is a social event for the college of
engineering sponsored every year by Engineering Student
Council. The event this year, however, was a bit different
because it was combined with the Seaton Society Dinner
and Dance. The event was held in the alumni center and
guests received the red carpet treatment as they arrived--
complete with valet parking and coat checkers. Those in
attendance dressed elegantly. Dean Terry S. King gave a
wonderful welcome speech
and recognized the recipients
of the Professional Progress
Award. A delicious dinner and
dancing accompanied by the
Vaughn Bolton Orchestra
followed. Guests received an
extensive dinner buffet and
dessert complete with a
chocolate fountain. Imagine the
surprise at seeing that! After
more waltzes, polkas and cha
chas, the evening came to a
close with the recognition of
Seaton Society founding
members, a Hall of Fame
induction ceremony, special
recognition and closing
comments by Dean King.
There was also a special
appearance by our favorite
mascot, Willie, who led the
crowd in several K-State cheers. Two Hall of Fame recipents then led
the singing of K-States Alma Mater. Dick Hayter states, The E-Ball
and banquet is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions by the
students, alumni, faculty and staff in making K-State Engineering the
best comprehensive college in the country. The number of people
who came was overwhelming compared to past years and the event
was such a success that it may never be held in the Fiedler atrium
again. What could possibly make it more lively and enjoyable?
