Dr. Philip Gipson is the Unit Leader and Associate Professor in the Division of Biology. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas in 1971. He has been involved in the RTLA program since its inception; prior to that he was involved in the LCTA program from 1993-2005. His research interests are predator ecology, human and wildlife interactions, and environmental risk analysis. Dr. Don Althoff is a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Biology and Certified Wildlife Biologist. He also holds a joint appointment at the University of Rio Grande as an assistant professor of biology. He received his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in 1983. He has been associated with the Cooperative Unit since 2000. His research interests include wildlife-habitat relationships, evaluating techniques for monitoring long-term land condition trend, and conservation of upland wildlife. Dr. Joanna Whittier is a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Biology. She received her Ph.D. in 2001 from Oklahoma State University. She has been involved with the the RTLA project since October 2006. Her primary research interest include endangered species management, conservation genetics, and GIS. Kevin Blecha is a Research Assistant with the Kansas Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit (KCFWRU) focusing on the RTLA project. He first worked on the project as a technician in 2005, while completing his B.S. in Wildlife Biology in 2006. Duties include coordinating field work under RTLA and other KCFWRU projects. He has a wide scope of research interests that include ecosystem responses to disturbance, plant taxonomy, and occupancy estimation. Email: kevinb@ksu.edu |
