- Personal and Sick Leave - Personal and sick leave are also tracked on monthly reports and should be recorded with your service hours. VISTAs are granted 10 personal days and 10 sick days which can be used throughout your year of service, but you must have personal leave approved in advance by your supervisor and notify the VISTA Leader of your leave dates 5 business days in advance. When you need to take a sick day, KsCC recommends notifying your supervisor by phone AND email as soon as you think you will need to stay home for the day.
- Breaks and Office Closings - Your office or campus may close for some or all federal holidays. Your service calendar follows that of your office, NOT the student calendar. During academic breaks, office closings are usually shorter than students’ breaks, and you are expected to serve when your host site’s offices are open (unless you have arranged in advance to take personal leave). Please talk to your supervisor during your on-site orientation about when offices will close for holidays and breaks. If your campus closes for a day that is not a federal holiday, you may be required to serve anyway – please talk to the VISTA Leader.

Monthly reports are due by email to the VISTA Leader and Host Site Supervisor, two business days before the last working day of the month. (November and December dates are adjusted for holidays) These dates allow us to send your highlights to the CNCS state office in time for their monthly report.
If a Report due date conflicts with a major event on the VISTA’s schedule, contact the Campus Compact office in advance to request an extension.
