- What is an eID?
- eID is short for "electronic ID", and is the name for K-State's comprehensive computer ID. The concept is "one ID, one password" for each K-State student, faculty, staff, alumnus, and guest. For more information, see the eID website.
-
- Why is logging off important?
- If you do not log off from KATS, you leave your personal information at risk for someone
else to see. KATS cannot know when you walk away from a web browser so it will
continue to assume the current user is you. Another reason for logging off is so that the
maximum number of users could be using the system at any one time. A "LOG OFF"
button is available on every screen for your convenience. ALWAYS LOG OFF.

- What are the hours of operation for KATS?
- The KATS server is intended to be available 7 days/week, 24 hours/day; however, KATS
accesses other information systems at KSU. These other systems have periods of time each
day when they are not accessible for maintenance reasons. KATS will inform you when it is
unable to access one of these information systems. Also see Enroll Availability which has
specific hours noted for the Enroll application.
-
- How secure is KATS?
- The web servers used by KATS utilize encryption (via SSL); any information sent or
received is transported in an encrypted format which prevents unauthorized access to your
information. Additionally, always remember to protect your password; anyone who gains access to
your password will have access to your personal information.
-
- Why do I get a 'time-out' error sometimes?
- KATS has a 3 minute time-out feature with the system servers; three minutes of no
activity will cause the system to automatically log you off. If this happens, just log
onto KATS again and continue your session.
