Earthball
We started this philanthropy in 1995 with Delta Chi Fraternity. The proceeds benefit the Manhattan Public Library and the National Leukemia Foundation. It is at the beginning of September at Memorial Stadium. This year we raised $2,400 and had a record number of teams participate.
Kappa-Pike Spike
This philanthropy was started in 2005 with Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. It is a sand volleyball tournament. All proceeds benefit the Kappa Foundation and the Flint Hills Breadbasket. In the two years it has been in existence, it has been extremely successful and we hope this event continues to grow.
Reading is Fundamental (RIF) is Kappa's national philanthropy. A non-profit organization, RIF "prepares and motivates children to read by delivering free books and literacy resources to those children and families who need them most" (http://www.rif.org/about/).
Kappa Reading Corner was set up in part because of RIF. Gamma Alpha started a program at the Manhattan Public Library in spring 2006 in order to not only donate money, but also time. It is important to Gamma Alpha Kappas to serve the community they call home.
