Kappas keep busy with classes, community service and jobs, but when our work is done, we love to play! Date parties, sisterhood events and functions keep active members having fun all year long.
Date Parties:
Kappa date party themes often are the inspiration for some crazy costumes! Decked in their finest, Kappas head out with their dates for a night of dancing and fun. Over the past year, some of date party themes have included "It's a Three-Ring Circus!" "Formal: A Night on the Red Carpet," "Kappa Krush," and even a trip to the Plaza in Kansas City, Mo., for a night of ice-skating in our Christmas sweaters!
Sisterhood Events:
Sisterhood events allow the women of each pledge class to spend time together away from the chapter house. Whether they bond around a campfire or play a rousing game of mini golf, these events bring Kappas closer together with shared laughs and memories.
Functions:
Each fall, men from various fraternities come to Kappa to extend a function bid. They usually put on a funny skit or sing an original song in an effort to gain the opportunity to spend an evening with the women of Kappa. After all the skits, the chapter votes, and we usually function with two or three fraternities each semester.
What is a function? Well, this year we had a birthday party function, where we played games like Twister and Catchphrase, ate desserts and even opened a pinata! We also had a salsa dancing function and a Christmas function.
In the spring, we flip-flop responsibilities, and it is our turn to go and impress fraternities with our skits and songs.
Football and Homecoming:
During football season Kappas have been known to wait in line for hours before the game to secure a spot on the front row. Saturdays are spent tailgating with friends and family and cheering the Wildcats on to victory at Snyder Family Stadium. Go State!
Kappas are especially pumped up with purple pride during Homecoming week. For an entire week, Kappas busy themselves prepairing floats, creating yard art, making up cheers and painting windows down in Aggieville to show our K-State spirit. Along with our fraternity paring in 2005, Kappa won the all-university homecoming competition!
Family Days:
Each year, Kappa organizes Moms' Weekend, Dads' Weekend and Siblings' Weekend! These days give us an opportunity to show our parents and siblings what our life is all about here at K-State and at Kappa. Dads enjoy tailgating for a football game in the fall, while moms attend a banquet and go shopping the spring. We spend a day at the park with our siblings playing games and having a picnic.
Whether preparing for a big date party or having a slumber party in the basement, Kappas welcome any chance they get to spend time with the their sisters.
