KSU Japanese Appreciation Association

Mission Statement

The KSU Japanese Appreciation Association (JAA) is dedicated to increasing opportunities for increased access to knowledge and experience with Japanese language, culture, society and more for the members of the KSU campus.

  1. Name
    The name of this organization shall be the Japanese Appreciation Association of Kansas State University, hereafter referred to as JAA.
  2. Membership
    All students, faculty and staff of Kansas State University shall have rights to membership in JAA.
  3. Officers
    Section 1: The elected officers shall be: Chair and the Financial Officer.
    Section 2: Candidates for the office seats shall be nominated from the body of members one meeting before elections are to occur. Elections of officers shall be done no later than the third week of April of each year. A plurality of the votes of the recognized members of JAA shall elect for an officer.
    Section 3: Term of office will be from election to the end of the following academic year. While the outgoing and incoming officers are acting, the outgoing shall retain the office, while transitioning material and information to the incoming officer. Following the final meeting of the academic year, the outgoing officer's term shall end and the incoming officer's term will begin.
    Section 4: In the case of vacancy, the Chair will take nominations from the membership and will be voted on in the following meeting.
  4. Meetings
    Meetings shall be called at the discretion of the Chair, but shall be held no less than 2 times in each academic month, and they shall moderate all meetings of JAA. Meetings will be announced at least one week in advance through the Chair.
  5. Amendments to the Constitution
    Amendments to the constitution must be presented in written form at a regularly scheduled meeting and may be passed by a simple majority of a quorum vote of the membership at the following regularly scheduled meeting. All amendments to the constitution shall take effect immediately following ratification.
