Configuring the Blackberry

Note: If you have a Blackberry and do not want to use the free, mobile-web interface, you have the option to pay for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) service that will automatically sync in real-time your Blackberry calendar with your K-State Zimbra Calendar. See About BES for more information.

  1. Go to http://uscellular.blackberry.com/ and sign in with your user ID and password.

Please note this is not a K-State system and is therefore not synced to your eid and eid password.

  2. Click Create New Account.

Note: If you already have an account setup, you can edit the account information.

  3. Enter your K-State e-mail address, and eid password.

Note: When you supply your eID password, you are allowing your password to be stored by an external entity where the university has no control over it.

  4. After your account is setup, click the Edit button.
    Edit Account Information
  5. Click the Advanced Settings tab.
  6. In Email server box, type imap.k-state.edu.
    Advanced Settings
  7. Click Save.

About the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES)

Before connecting to K-State's BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you should know the following:

  • Some cellphone providers require an enterprise data plan or BES-enabled account, which can add a minimum of $10 per month to a cellular data plan.
  • Getting set up with this service will require the assistance of technical support staff to minimize the risk of data loss and ensure the BlackBerry is connected properly to the system.

For more information and to apply for the service, fill out the required BES activation authorization form (PDF).
