Granting Permission to a Student to Enroll in a Class

 

Purpose

Use this procedure to grant permission for a student to enroll or drop a specific class.

Trigger

Perform this procedure when a class requires consent of either the instructor or the department before enrolling in the class.  Also, if consent is required to drop the class, this procedure may be used.

Prerequisites

·         Class section must be setup.

·         Class may require consent of department or instructor.

Procedure

1.       Records and Enrollment  Term Processing  Class Permissions  Class Permission Numbers

Generate Class Permissions

 

2.       At a minimum, complete the following required fields to find the appropriate record:

Description

Academic Institution

R

Kansas State University, indicated as 'KSUNV'.

Term

R

Semester in which classes are offered.  Terms are identified by a four-digit number where the first digit represents the century, the second and thir digits represent the year, and the final digit represents the semester (2 for Spring, 3 for Summer, 5 for Fall).  I.e.  Spring 2008 = 2082, Fall 2007 = 2075.

Example:         2705

Subject Area

O

The 5 character portion of the course code designation that signifies the department for a given course.  For example, ACCTG signifies that a course is offered by the Accounting department.

Example:         kin

Catalog Nbr

O

Description of the Catalog Nbr:.

Example:         begins with

3.       Click  .

Generate Class Permissions

 

4.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

Date on which the permission expires.

    This will default to the date listed under the Default Date in the Class Permission Region above.  This value may be changed, if desired.

Perm Type

R

Type of permission being granted.

    Options are permission to Add (A) or Drop (D).

Example:         A (Add)

ID

R

iSIS unique system identifier.

    This is the iSIS-assigned ID value (EmplID), not the K-State assigned Wildcat ID (WID).

Example:         0000000051

 

5.       Perform one of the following:

7.       Go to Step 4.

9.       You have completed this task.

Result

You have successfully granted permission for a student to enroll into or to drop a class.
