Assign a Student to a Group

 

Purpose

Use this procedure to assign a student to a group.

Trigger

Perform this procedure when a student is to be added to an existing student group.

Prerequisites

None

Menu Path

Use the following menu path(s) to begin this task:

·         Records and Enrollment  Career and Program Information  Student Groups.

Helpful Hints

·         Student groups are useful for tracking information about students that cannot otherwise be tracked in iSIS.  For example, tracking of external certifications, honors, athletes, etc.


Procedure

1.       Records and Enrollment  Career and Program Information  Student Groups.

Student Groups

 

2.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

Field Name

Description

ID

iSIS unique system identifier.

Example:         000281036

Campus ID

O

K-State issued student identifier.  Also called the Wildcat ID (WID).

Example:         (left blank)

National ID

O

National identification number issued by the government.  Social Security Number (SSN).

Example:         (left blank)

Last Name

O

Person’s Last Name

Example:         (left blank)

First Name

O

Person’s first name.

Example:         (left blank)

 

3.       Click  .

Student Groups

 

4.       Perform one of the following:

Student has already been assigned to a Student Group

Step 5

Student has not been assigned to any Student Groups

5.       In the upper region (to the right of Academic Institution), click  .

6.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

Kansas State University, indicated as ‘KSUNV’.

Example:         KSUNV

Student Group

R

A grouping of students with similar characteristics.  Student Groups can be used for identification or to add additional functionality to the system.

Example:         ATHL

Effective Date

The date on which the settings become effective.

Example:         06/27/2008

Status

R

Status of the Student’s participation in the designated Student Group.

Example:         Active

Additional information about the item.

7.       Perform one of the following:

No additional changes to make in the Student Group

8.       In the lower region (beside Status), click  to insert a new Effective Dated Row for the existing Student Group.

9.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

10.     Go to Step 7.

11.     In the upper region (beside Academic Institution), click  to insert a new Student Group.

12.     Go to Step 6.

13.     Click  .

You have successfully added a Student to a Student Group.
