Run a report

This procedure outlines the general steps required to run a report in iSIS.  Some steps may depend on the report selected.  Before you can run a report you will need to have appropriate security to access the report and the data on the report.

  1. Navigate to the desired report in iSIS.  For the purposes of this exercise, we will run the Print Class Schedule report found at:

Curriculum > Schedule of Classes > Print Class Schedule

    Print class schedule

  2. At a minimum, complete the following fields to find the appropriate record.
    Field Name R/O/C Description
Run Control ID R Name given to a series of settings used to run reports.  Many Run Control IDs can be saved for the same report, each with a different set of settings.  If the selected Run Control ID does not exist, click Add a New Value and enter the name to create it.
  3. Click Search to find an existing Run Control ID, click Add to add a new Run Control ID.

  4. At this point the desired report settings (RUN Control ID) will open up.  Make any changes if necessary.

  5. Click Run to open the Process Scheduler.  This will save your settings and start the processing of the report.

Server Name R K-State only uses PSUNX server.
Recurrence O Allows for scheduling of the requested report.   Not recommended for use at this time.
Run Date R The date to run the report.  It will default to the current date.
Run Time R Time to run the report.  This defaults to the current time.
  7. Click Select button by the appropriate report to select that report for processing.

  8. As required, complete/review the following fields:
    Field Name R/O/C Description
Type R Method for distribution of the report.  For now use only Web type.  Other types may have unexpected results.
Format R Format for the distribution of the report.  We recommend using the PDF format.  For this report, the Excel format will look exactly like the PDF format, which is more intended for viewing than for electronic manipulation.
  9. Click OK.

  13. Perform one of the following:
    If Then
Status of the Request is Posted Proceed with Step 14.
Otherwise Click Refresh until status changes to Posted.
  14. Click Schedule of Classes (KSU)

    • The system will now open another window and launch a PDF document (or whatever format was selected).

    • if there is a PDF document and it does not open, there was no output from the report request.  This usually means that the settings in the Run Control ID produced no results.  In some cases, as in some Class Schedule error reports, the absence of a report indicates that there is no data in the report.
