The Speakers Bureau is a listing of volunteers who have offered to do presentations about their country or about their international experience to local community organizations, area schools, classrooms on campus, or at International Student Center programs. These presentations may include lectures, multi-media programs, demonstrations and/or performances.
Volunteers complete a Speakers Bureau application and submit it to Emily Quackenbush, Foreign Student Advisor, at the International Student Center. Applications (.pdf) can be obtained at the International Student Center or can be printed from our web site. When the Coordinator receives requests for presentations, she/he will match speakers with that request. Transportation can be provided if needed.
International groups can also register. However, it must be a performance group, e.g. a band or dance group. To register a group, use this Group Application (.pdf).
Educating others about your culture or sharing your experiences will promote understanding and enlighten others as to the wonders of the world beyond our borders. The rewards of educating and influencing others are immeasurable. We hope that in doing a presentation in an area school or on campus, you will learn something about American culture.
Conducting presentations will also give you an opportunity for professional development. You will gain experience in public speaking, conducting presentations and will have an occasion to practice conversational English skills.
Scholarships will be granted to participants based on the number of requests a participant fulfills. See the chart below.
| Number of Requests Fulfilled | Scholarship Amount |
|---|---|
| 1 | $15 |
| 2 | $20 |
| 3 | $25 |
| 4+ | $35 |
Groups will recieve a flat rate of $30 per presentation or performance.
Download the speaker request form (.pdf), and submit it to the International Student Center by mail, email or fax (785-532-6607). Contact Lenka Hadamova at (785) 532-6448 or email at hadamova@ksu.edu with further questions.
