What a Student or Exchange Visitor Can Expect Upon Arrival at a U.S. Port of Entry

Transportation from Kansas City International Airport to Manhattan

In the U.S., children under the age of 4 or who are less than 40 pounds must be in a car seat, made especially for children, when traveling in a van or car. If you are not bringing a child's car seat on the plane, be sure that the person who is picking you up is aware that you have a child and will need a car seat.

The Roadrunner is a van service that provides transportation from the Kansas City International airport to Manhattan. You must call them prior to your arrival in Kansas City to make arrangements. It is recommended that you contact them from home or your port of entry (the first city you enter in the U.S.) and request to be picked up. This service does provide car seats for children, but you must notify them in advance that one is needed so the driver can bring one.

To view the scheduled departures from Kansas City International, the fees, and contact information, go to http://www.kciroadrunner.com/.

To contact them by phone, the numbers are 1-800-826-8294 or 1-800-747-2KCI

Often the student associations will help you make arrangements to get transportation from the airport. Go to our listing of organizations and contact the president. If your country is not represented in the listing, contact the president of the International Coordinating Council.

The Office of International Programs is coordinating van rides from the Kansas City International Airport to Manhattan. There is no cost for this service. However, please note that this is a service for students only.  Because of liability issues, we are unable to transport family members.  This service is provided at the beginning and the end of the semester only.  In order to request a ride you must complete a request form at http://www.k-state.edu/oip/.  The Coordinator will contact you to confirm that there will be a ride for you. Be sure you have a confirmation before your arrival.
