English Proficiency

English proficiency is not required for admission to Kansas State University. We offer three different options for you to meet our English standards before enrollment.

option 1

Test Upon Arrival

There is no need to test before arriving to K-State! You can take our English Proficiency Test test (EPT) once you are here on campus.

Our Test

  • Depending on your EPT result you will be placed into full-time English classes, part-time English and part-time academics, or full-time academics.
  • Find out more information about our English Proficiency Test (EPT) through our English Language Program.
  • If you choose to test before coming to K-State we will pre-place you in English classes (through K-State Fast) or waive your English requirement.
option 2

Pre-place in English Classes

Know your study plan for the first year BEFORE you arrive.

K-State Fast

  • If your TOEFL scores are below 79 or your IELTS is below 6.5, you can be admitted to an undergraduate degree program and pre-placed in English classes through the K-State Fast program.
  • English classes can be applied towards your academic degree contributing toward your graduation requirements.
  • If your TOEFL score is or above 79 or your IELTS score is 6.5 or above, we will waive the requirement for English classes.
option 3

Waive English Classes
