Local Calls

Long Distance Calls

- You should hear a second dial tone.
- Dial the seven digit authorization code.
- The call should go through. Refer to the campus
directory for additional dialing instructions. In all
cases you will need to dial the authorization code for
billable calls.

Long Distance Calls From Off-Campus

- The system will ask if you want the number repeated.

- After the prompt, enter your authorization code. If a
mistake is made while entering the authorization
code, you will receive a dial tone and must start over.

Call Waiting
Call Waiting allows you to be notified of an incoming call
while your phone is in use. You can place a call on hold while
talking on the other line and switch back and forth between
them. Call Waiting can be deactivated if specifically requested.
- If another call comes in while you are on the phone,
you will hear one or two beeps. One beep signals an
on-campus call and two beeps signal an off-campus
call.
- Press
and wait for the dial tone.
- Dial

- The first call is placed on hold and you are connected
to the second call.
- You can switch between calls by repeating Step 2.
- If you hang up with a call on hold, your phone will ring
to remind you. When you pick up the phone, you will
be connected to the call that was on hold.

Call Forwarding
This feature causes calls to your phone to be automatically
transferred to another local on- or off-campus number. When
a call is forwarded, your phone will ring with a short ring. You
cannot answer the call if it is forwarded. Forwarding does not
prevent you from making outgoing calls.
- Pick up the phone and listen for a dial tone.
- Dial


and the number you wish calls to be
forwarded to. Include
if it is an off-campus
number.
- Wait for a three-beep confirmation tone. Hang up.
- To cancel Call Forwarding pick up the phone,
dial


and hang up.

Call Hold
Call Hold lets you place a call on hold in order to make
another call. When the second call is finished, you can return
to the first one.
- Inform the party that you will be placing them on hold.
- Press
and dial 

.
- The first call is placed on hold and you will receive a
dial tone to place another call.
- Dial as necessary to place the second call.
- You can switch between calls by repeating Step 2.
- If you hang up with a call on hold, your phone will ring
to remind you. When you pick up the phone, you will
be connected to the call that was on hold.

Call Conferencing
This feature allows you to be connected to two other parties
on- or off-campus in a three-party conversation.
- Establish a call with the first party. You can call them
or they can call you.
- Press
and wait for the dial tone.
- Dial the number of the second party. Wait for them to
answer and inform them of the conference call.
- Press
again. All three of you are connected
together now.
- If you can't reach the second party, press
to
return to the first party.

Call Transfer
This feature allows a call to be transferred to another on-
campus extension.
- Press
and wait for the dial tone.
- Dial the number you which you wish the call to be
transferred.
- Wait for the call to be answered. Inform the party of
the transfer. Hang up.
- If you can't reach the second party, press
and you will return to the first party.

Automatic Callback
Automatic Callback allows you to be notified when an on-
campus number is no longer busy.
To activate Automatic Callback:
- Press
. Or, after receiving a busy signal, hang
up the phone. Wait 3 seconds.
- Pick up the phone and check for dial tone.
- Dial


and the number you are calling. If you
hear ringing, the number is no longer busy and you
can proceed with your call. If you hear a confirmation
tone of three beeps, Automatic Callback is in effect;
proceed to Step 4. If you hear a reorder tone, the
called number has a second call on call waiting; try
again later. If you hear an intercept tone (fast busy
signal), this feature cannot be activated; possibly
because the number called has call coverage.
- Hang up your phone.
- When the number is no longer busy, your phone will ring
with a priority ring (triple ring). Ringing will cease
if not answered within a preadministered number of
cycles. The system will cancel Callback after about 30
minutes.
- Pick up the phone handset. Priority ringing will stop.
The number being called will ring back through the
handset. If you hear the confirmation tone of three
beeps and then silence, the Callback is still in effect;
hang up and wait for Callback.
To cancel Automatic Callback:
- Pick up handset and check for dial tone.
- Dial


and hang up. You should hear the
confirmation tone of three beeps; Automatic Callback
is canceled. An Automatic Callback request is
canceled after 20-40 minutes if the line is still busy.
Also, Automatic Callback may not work when calling
certain departmental lines.

Last Number Dialed
This feature, which is part of basic service, allows you to dial
an access code to redial the last number dialed from the
phone. It does not remember authorization codes.
- Pick up the phone and listen for a dial tone.
- Dial

- If your call needs an authorization code, you will be
prompted for it. Otherwise, you should hear your call
ringing.

Speed Dialing
Speed Dialing permits you to program up to 20 numbers for
fast dialing.
To program one of the numbers for Speed Dialing use
the following steps.
- Pick up the phone and listen for a dial tone.
- Dial

- Dial


and the two digit code (01 through 20) for
the particular number you wish to assign or change.
- Dial the digits to be stored. Do not store authorization
codes or credit card numbers.
- Dial
and listen for the three-beep confirmationtone. Hang up.
To place a call using Speed Dialing, follow these instructions:
- Pick up the phone and listen for a dial tone.
- Dial


and the two digit code (01 through 20) for
the particular number you wish to call.
- If your call requires an authorization code, you will be
prompted for it. Otherwise, you should hear your call
ringing.

AUDIX Voice Mail
This feature will answer all on-campus (single ring) and off-campus (double ring) calls. Note: Many answering machines are not compatible with the Campus Ring System.
You can do the following with AUDIX Voice Mail:
- Record and edit personal greetings.
- Receive messages from incoming calls while on the phone.
- Send a message to a list of voice mail users such as a committee or social group.
- Forward messages with an added comment.
- Scan and selectively delete messages. Call messages are automatically saved for 5 days.
- Automatically redial the number of a message sender.
- Adjust volume and speed. Skip, rewind and fast-forward through messages.
How to log in:
- Pick up the phone and listen for a dial tone.
- Dial





- Enter extension number
(Last 5 digits of telephone number)
- Enter password number
(Initial password is the last 4 digits of telephone number)
