Keep your computer software updated by utilizing the Software Updates function. The following steps tell you how to do the Software Updates.
1. Quit all applications. An application is still running if there is a black arrow pointing to it on the dock. (See picture below.)

2. Go to the Blue Apple which is located in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

3. Click on the apple and select System Preferences by clicking once on it.

4. The System Preferences window will now open. Under the System row, choose Software Update (see picture below). This is the fourth icon over on the row. Select it by clicking on it once.

5. Once the Software Update Screen is open, make sure that the Update Software button is blue at the top of the dialog box. Then make sure there is a checkmark next to the "Check for Updates: Weekly". If not, place a checkmark in the box by clicking on it once.

6. Then select the Check Now button by clicking on it once.
7. Now a screen will appear showing any software updates that need to be run. Make sure that the security installs are checked. If not, place a checkmark in the box by clicking once.

8. Then select the "install item" button by clicking on it once.
9. It will now ask you for a password. Type in your password. If you do not know what this is, contact your system administrator.
10. Now your software updates will run. Let these installs run until they are complete (don't use any other applications at this time).
11. Then you will be asked to Restart your computer. Simply click on the Restart button.
