  1. Forward your e-mail to a non-K-State account.
  2. Unsubscribe from mailing lists you don't want (and for those you need, resubscribe from a new e-mail address).
  3. Copy any files you want to keep, including personal webpages and e-mail folders.
  4. Remove software received under a K-State site license or volume-purchase agreement (such as antivirus software).
  5. If you live in a residence hall, reset your computer to Microsoft's Windows Update Service.

K-State Online: Tip of the Week

What if you want to create a Scantron question where any answer marked will be counted as correct?

For example, you might ask a survey type of question and give credit if any answer was marked or you may need to throw out a question and want to allow all answers given as correct -- so everyone gets credit.

In your answer key, do the following and the question will be graded properly:

1. When asked if you want questions that allow for multiple answers, choose Yes.

2. Leave the question marked as "SINGLE" grading and then check A, B, C, D, and E as correct.

This allows any response to this question to be correct.

MSN page compares local gas prices daily

by B. Edwards, Computing and Network Services
published May 2, 2006. updated May 3, 2006 10:56 a.m.

Rising gas prices prompted one K-Stater to share the Local Gas Prices resource on the MSN Autos site. Type in your ZIP code to get a locator map followed by a list of gas stations sorted on price per gallon, from lowest to highest.

Note that the site may not include all gas stations in the area. "Every night MSN Autos receives pricing data from over 90,000 gas stations across the nation," says the site. A link to "detailed pricing information" provides background on how price data is obtained.

KansasGasPrices.com has more current data

Another reader has subsequently recommended KansasGasPrices.com, saying it has more current data, has been available for several years, ans has sites nationwide. Check out the site's gas prices for Manhattan.

Cleaning computer labs to help keep mumps away

by A. Hagedorn, Information Technology Assistance Center
published May 2, 2006

This week, all the keyboards and computer mice in the K-State InfoCommons and university computing labs are being cleaned with disinfectant wipes, courtesy of staff from the Information Technology Assistance Center and the LAN Technologies unit in Computing and Network Services.

It is hoped these efforts will help keep all faculty, staff, and students healthy in the final weeks of the semester. We encourage you to do your part by washing your hands frequently, keeping your personal office space clean, and wiping your keyboard, mouse, and phone with disinfectant.
