Downloading and Installing Microsoft Windows Updates
It may be helpful to print this page for reference as you follow these steps to update your Windows operating system:
Updating Windows
- Open the control panel.
- Under the Classic View, click Windows Update.
- If there are important updates to be installed, a notification will be displayed.
- Click on the Install Updates button to get high-priority updates.

- The updates should begin downloading to your computer.

- When prompted, Restart your computer to complete the installation of updates.

Note: Downloading and installing Windows updates is a cumulative process. Some updates are not available until
previous ones have been installed. It's not unusual to have to restart your computer multiple times.
- After completing the Windows update process:
- If you are off campus, double-click on the K-State CSA on your desktop to continue the process.
- If you are on campus, open a browser window to continue the process.
Note: Microsoft no longer provides updates for Windows 98, 98SE, ME, and NT. Therefore, K-State does not support these operating systems on the network. You must run at least Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2, or MAC OS X to connect to the K-State network.
