Meritorious Recognition
goes to:
John Langer,
ECC
John is a very dedicated employee who takes
on technical challenges every day with grace.
He is an exceptional broadcast engineer and
network technician, who has kept a great work
ethic for sixteen years. He is always willing
to "lend a hand" and go the extra mile. John
brings a unique combination of exceptional
expertise and personal caring to his
responsibilities. His skill in explaining
technical issues, and the patience he affords
us until we understand them, is truly
appreciated.
He was nominated for his successful efforts
in finding a solution to replace and upgrade
the video server used to program content for
play back on cable channel 8 and low power
channel 21. In turn this will allow us to
"Show Case" all the other programs to the
campus and the city community.
Sarah
Silva, iTAC
Sarah consistently provides
impeccable customer service. She is willing
to sit one-on-one and explain a technical
issue to an individual, as well as provide
technical training to an entire group.
When I think about the contributions Sarah has
made in the past year, I think of Operation
PC. In just a few weeks’ time, Sarah put
together outstanding documentation for the
project team to use for testing and for the
students moving into the residence halls to
use. Sarah works quickly, but also pays
attention to detail and accuracy. Sarah also
created a web site and documentation for the
transition to Trend Micro. To ensure internal
staff were properly trained, she created an
online tutorial as well as a quiz to test
staff afterwards. Sarah has trained more than
500 faculty, staff and administrative
assistants. Sarah is always patient and
willing to listen, if others need her help.
Gerry Snyder, K-State Research and
Extension/IET
Gerry Snyder is a multimedia specialist and
trainer. He works tirelessly to help Extension
Specialists and Agents apply IT and reach
their clientele across the state. He is
extraordinarily interested in a wide range of
topics, especially those related to the
environment and natural resources. For a media
kit on water quality that was distributed
statewide, Gerry was responsible for all the
graphic work, creation of CDs, and development
of the website. He stays up-to-date in current
technology and applies that knowledge to our
communication needs. He offers understandable
explanations and suggestions. Best of all, he
doesn’t lose patience with those of us who are
technologically-challenged.
