Meritorious Recognition goes to:

Greg Girard – ISO

Greg is the system coordinator for LASER and supports the E-Business suite. He provides leadership by example. His vision for a clean, up-to-the-latest database for LASER is commendable. Greg remains current in his knowledge on the latest technology and implements this technology to bring the greatest benefit to Kansas State University .

Tracy Gibson – ECC

Tracy is one of the most research-based engineers on the ECC staff and can always be counted on to analyze a situation, dig deep into its nature and problems, develop solutions in a consortial way and present the findings, solution or recommendation in a way that is easy to understand, non-threatening and positive. His chairmanship of the Video Standards committee produced recommendations for improvements that clearly extend beyond the ECC to other IT units dealing with video capture and distribution.

Nancy Calhoun – iTAC

As one of the training coordinators for iTAC, Nancy shares her technical expertise, talents and time with numerous individuals across campus. Nancy’s skills, knowledge, diplomatic skills, course preparation, listening skills, positive attitude, passion for her job, sense of urgency for getting the job done, AND her 16 years of commitment to IT deserve acknowledgment.

Charlene Chabries – DCE

As a member of the DCE Business office, Charlene designed, programmed and debugged a system for DCE students to receive billings on the same statement as their on-campus courses. This has never been possible before. Charlene is not a programmer by job description or training, but she did it anyway. She found an unconventional way of solving a problem and applied her skill and her specialized knowledge of DCE registration and billing procedures to save Registration office time and streamline the billing process for over 11,000 students each year. This is a major accomplishment for the university.

Chuck Gould – CNS

Chuck leads project management for CNS. He has served as Project Manager for KEAS, KEEP, SAN, email, NOC and EPM to name a few. Project planning is an evolving enterprise for CNS and a such Chuck is often blazing new territory, To quote a colleague, “Chuck embodies a spirit of IT through his hard work, focus on customers, intense desire to help people, creativity, collaborative attitude, willingness to compromise his opinion in order to reach group consensus, near obsession with details, positive attitude, not shying away from difficult decisions. Meeting deadlines and overall professionalism.”

Jonathan Wells – student – CNS University Computing Labs

Jonathan is a University Computing lab assistant who checks all the PCs’s and printers in the Info Commons, the University computing labs and the Union Computing labs. References stated that “Jonathon’s knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm is invaluable to CNS. He created a program to assist other co-workers in performing their duties more efficiently which has been much appreciated. He continually strives to provide our customers with quality services in a consistent, effective manner.

Nathan Oglesby – student – iTAC

Nathan has worked for DCE and OME. He is now the lead student for the consolidated help desk. Nathan is an expert on the use of K-State on line, the survey system, Linktivity and MecNet. He is knowledgeable, has an unassuming deameaner, with an ability to uncover the problem and explain the solution to the end user.

Operation PC Protection Connection Team – under the direction of Royce Gilbert

Operation PC Protection Connection was an immense, complicated project with the goal to secure every computer in residence halls in the three days prior to the start of classes. It is an excellent example of a team of people from a WIDE range of units coming together to perform a substantially challenging task in a short, intense time period with a hugely successful outcome. Operation PC Protection not only saved the university in time, labor and resources, but set a new standard for teamwork and cooperation.

Career and Employment Services staff

This is the first year to recognize a group outside of the Central IT units. This unit utilized K-State On line for distribution of data which improved efficiency which resulted in saving more than a $1000 in materials as well as100 plus personnel hours.
