Configuring Thunderbird 2.0 for Mac OS X
Note: If you currently use Thunderbird to read
your K-State e-mail, it's recommended you
create a new account rather
than edit an existing one.
- On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.
- Click the Add Account button.
- On the New Account Setup page, click Email account and then click Continue.
- In the Your Name box, type your name.
- In the Email Address box, type
your K-State e-mail address and then click Continue.
- Select either POPor IMAP as the type of incoming server and then follow the instructions below for the type of server you chose:
- IMAP server: In the Incoming Mail Server box, type pilotimap.k-state.edu.
- POP server: In the Incoming Mail Server box, type pilotpop.k-state.edu.
- In the Outgoing Server box, type pilotauth.smtp.k-state.edu and then click Continue.
- In the Incoming User Name box, type your eID.
- In the Outgoing User Name box, type your eID and then click Continue.
- In the Account Name box, type a name for your account and click Continue.
- You will be presented with a summary of your account. Confirm everything is correct and then click Done.
- Follow the instructions below to enable SSL and Authenticated SMTP.
Enabling SSL
In order to view your K-State e-mail using Thunderbird, you have to enable SSL.
- On the Tools menu, click Account
Settings (if you are not already
there).
- On the left, under your account, click Server
Settings.
- Click the SSL option.
- Follow the instructions below to enable Authenticated SMTP.
Enabling Authenticated SMTP
- On the Tools menu, click Account Settings (if
you are not already there).
- On the left, below your account and Local Folders, click Outgoing Server (SMTP).
- Click the Edit button.
- Under Security and Authentication, click the Use name and password check box.
- In the User Name box, type your eID.
- Click the SSL option and then click OK.
- Click OK.
